The extensive reforms undertaken across key sectors reflect our determination to meet OECD standards and contribute actively to a stronger, more resilient global economy. Welcome to Victoria Palace, dear President @ZelenskyyUa! Today we are opening a new, forward-looking chapter in our bilateral relations with the signing of the 🇷🇴🇺🇦 Strategic Partnership. We will step up our joint efforts in key areas such as defense, including the joint production of drones on Romanian territory financed through SAFE, energy and transport interconnections, as well as Ukraine’s reconstruction. I also expressed my appreciation for President Zelensky’s support in ensuring the protection of the rights of the Romanian minority in Ukraine, including in the field of education, and for the decision to establish a Romanian Language Day in Ukraine, to be celebrated annually on August 31. Romania will continue to stand by the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom.

I welcomed the new U.S. Ambassador to Romania, @USAmbRO Darryl Nirenberg, to Victoria Palace and wished him every success in his mission. The Romanian Government is committed to continuing its work to strengthen our 🇷🇴🇺🇸 Strategic Partnership and deepen cooperation in areas such as security, defence, economy, energy, critical materials, and people-to-people contacts.

Împreună cu întregul Guvern, tratăm cu maximă atenție situația românilor surprinși de izbucnirea conflictului din Orientul Mijlociu. Prioritatea noastră este ca fiecare român să ajungă acasă în siguranță. Până acum, peste 1000 de cetățeni români au fost repatriați prin zboruri asistate și prin Mecanismul European de Protecție Civilă. Continuăm evacuările pe măsură ce situația de securitate permite, iar în zilele următoare sunt pregătite noi zboruri, inclusiv două curse programate prin Oman la începutul săptămânii viitoare. Zborurile susținute din fonduri publice și europene sunt destinate în special categoriilor vulnerabile, iar în paralel lucrăm la creșterea numărului de curse comerciale sigure pentru toți românii care doresc să revină în țară. Începând de săptămâna viitoare, va crește și numărul zborurilor comerciale zilnice din Emiratele Arabe Unite către București. Facem toate eforturile, împreună cu echipele consulare, pentru ca românii să ajungă acasă cât mai repede și în siguranță.

Mă aflu în contact și sunt informat permanent de Ministerul Afacerilor Externe, precum și de ambasadele și consulatele României din regiune, în contextul situației de securitate din Orientul Mijlociu. Înțelegem îngrijorarea românilor aflați în zonă și a familiilor lor din țară. Prioritatea noastră este siguranța fiecărui cetățean român. Personalul diplomatic și consular este mobilizat și pregătit să ofere asistență tuturor celor care au nevoie de sprijin. Recomand tuturor românilor aflați în regiune să respecte cu strictețe instrucțiunile autorităților locale, să evite deplasările care nu sunt esențiale și să ia legătura cu ambasadele sau consulatele României pentru a-și notifica prezența și a primi sprijin. Suntem alături de românii afectați de această situație și vom continua să monitorizăm evoluțiile. Susținem eforturile de asigurare a stabilității și a securității în regiune și reluarea demersurilor diplomatice.

Economic resilience and prosperity of the Eastern Flank regions go hand in hand with their security. Delighted to attend the high-level conference in Brussels to launch the @EU_Commission Communication on the Eastern Border Regions of the Union. The Commission’s support comes at the right time. The EastInvest instrument we are launching, with the participation of the Investment and Development Bank, provides valuable support to municipalities, county councils, and companies through access to advisory services and financing. Through our joint initiatives, the EU’s eastern flank becomes a pillar of cohesion, resilience, and security. If our regions are secure and prosperous, Europe as a whole is more secure.

In-depth discussion today with 🇪🇺commissioner @VDombroskis on Romania’s budgetary and fiscal situation and the next steps to consolidate reforms and accelerate investments to support economic growth and development.

M-am întâlnit cu doamna vicepreședinte @roxana_minzatu să discutăm și să ne coordonăm privind prioritățile Guvernului României în dialogul cu Comisia Europeană. De asemenea, am abordat și aspecte privind accelerarea utilizării Fondului Social European Plus.

Very good meeting with President @vonderleyen to discuss the Romanian Government’s progress on budget, reforms, and investments. We are committed to efficiently using EU funds to support the relaunch of economic growth. I welcomed the recent initiatives of the @EU_Commission to increase the security and economic resilience of the regions on the Eastern Flank.

I welcomed today, at Victoria Palace, European Commissioner for Justice @EUCssrMcGrath. We discussed strengthening the rule of law, advancing justice reforms, ensuring the independence and efficiency of the judiciary, and enhancing transparency in public office. Romania remains committed to close cooperation with the European Commission and to implementing the reforms needed to further strengthen the justice system.

Delighted to meet today in Berlin with German Chancellor @_FriedrichMerz for an in-depth discussion and close coordination on Europe’s current challenges. We focused on pragmatic ways to strengthen the Romania–Germany partnership, ensure security on NATO’s Eastern Flank, and support efforts to reach a sustainable peace in Ukraine. We agreed to intensify our cooperation in strategic sectors such as defense, innovative industries, and energy. Strong partnerships matter in these challenging times.
