Takashi Murakami on NFTs, Art, and Collecting
Hello, this is Takashi Murakami.
I was featured as the cover artist in NFT Magazine (@MagazineNFT), where I spoke about my approach to art, collecting, and my ongoing exploration of NFTs as a medium of expression.
In the interview, I speak quite candidly about the background behind the birth of Murakami. Flowers, the relationship between art and capitalism, and why digital collectibles continue to be important to my practice today. It was an e-mail interview and I worked on it intensively, rewriting it over and over for about ten days.
I wanted to share this article with everyone in the Kaikai Kiki Market Place (KKMP) community as well.
I am convinced that my sincere commitment to art, as well as why I continue to focus on NFT art despite the strong headwinds surrounding it, would fully be understood after my death. The fact that I am still alive, however, perhaps makes it harder to be understood. That is why, in this interview, I took the time to explain these ideas thoroughly.
I may sound self-congratulatory, but I genuinely believe this is a valuable document for understanding what art truly is.
