Her portrayal gave us someone to relate to and reflect on. The show followed former college professor Robert Peterson (played by Robert Townsend) and his wife, Jerri (Suzzanne Douglas), raising their four kids in a Manhattan brownstone. Created by Robert Townsend, Andrew Nicholls, and Darrell Vickers, The Parent 'Hood aired on The WB from 1995 to 1999, as part of the original Wednesday night lineup that helped launch the network.
