@HinkleFieldhome Lose the last. The buildup to the championship game would be a wild ride. You’d likely be featured everywhere Lose first game you just become a stat (although would still be cool)

Would you rather: Lose the first game of the tourney and go perfect from there on out Or Be perfect until the Championship game then lose it

@Vicbuckets @jkcdawgs No problem I got you Sparknotes version: stop caring if it’s a Butler guy or not. Pick the best coach available regardless of affiliation with school 🫡

Sorry for the length but just some thoughts on Butler’s head coaching search The most important thing is that Butler does not settle for an “easy” hire and does an EXTENSIVE nationwide coaching search and selects the BEST candidate, regardless of their history with Butler I don’t care if it’s a Butler guy/alum or a non-Butler guy, as long as an extensive search is performed and Grant picks the candidate he thinks can help Butler win NOW based on coaching ability, ability to navigate NIL, CBB experience, etc If it ends up being a Butler guy, great, let’s ride. If it ends up being a non-Butler guy, great, let’s ride. As long as an extensive search was performed and all factors are considered, I can live with either I know some people are concerned if it’s a non-Butler guy then that coach could leave in a few years for a higher paying job. So our fear of hiring a non-Butler guy is that he will be TOO GOOD??? Guys…we haven’t been to the tournament in 8 years. That’s almost a decade! I would die for someone “too good” If a non-Butler guy is hired, gets us to the tournament for a few years, rejuvenates fans, rejuvenates donors, puts the program back on the map, and then leaves after 3-4 years. Well okay then. Thank you. And we can address it then Also, just because it’s a Butler guy doesn’t mean they won’t leave if they have success. Everyone has a price tag. Example: Matta literally left Butler after 1 year during his first stint. Butler is a stepping stone just like 90% of other programs. It’s just reality We need to stop being so fixated on it being a Butler guy vs a non-Butler guy. We absolutely cannot limit our coaching pool based on that criteria. We should be selecting the BEST coach available, regardless of Butler affiliation As always, Go Dawgs! #DawgsOnly

Personally, I would like to see someone with CBB experience, and experience navigating the current NIL/revenue sharing landscape. But again, whether that is a Butler guy or not does not matter to me
