Surprising amount of charity is of this kind. My ex, Tess, and I used to give to Koala Rescue. Years later, I found that they just sort of assign you a random ~bear that lives outdoors. Hundreds of people have the same one. Your money doesn't buy it food (they only eat one thing), but rather goes to support various green causes. Etc.

The only people using those poor children were Harry and Megan and the hospital administrators that allowed this farce to occur. The vast majority of people disagree with your assessment. These sick children were forced out of their rooms, made to dress up, and put on display in front a crowd for a photo op. In the majority of photos, including of this little girl, they look miserable and uncomfortable.

Canada told this man’s wife to kill herself with MAID because they had “no treatment” for her stage 4 ovarian cancer. They lied about HIPEC surgery. Lost her chemo requisition. Her oncologist never even met her in person. ERs sent her home with opioids while her lungs filled with fluid. So they evacuated her by ferry from Vancouver Island to Seattle. America got her into the system immediately. Started chemo. Gave her the surgery Canada said wouldn’t work. Every time she went back to Canada, she nearly died again, going septic in Canadian hospitals until her husband literally unplugged her from machines and evacuated her back to the US. They finally got him a green card in under three months with the help of a Congresswoman. Now they’re in Texas. His wife is heading into her THIRD remission. She squatted 175 lbs for five reps last week. Canada’s answer was death. America’s answer was treatment. That’s the difference. 🇺🇸

@JustinBerkobien But he didn’t address his statement to the wealthy or point out the sin of greed or that Christ directs us to be charitable to others. He specifically spoke to wealth redistribution and equity. Show me where the Bible, or Christ, advocates for that.

I don’t believe the pope speaks for God by default, but I do think God is speaking through this pope as he denounces war and greed. And the fact that so many conservative Christians are rejecting his message just tells you how far they’ve fallen away from Jesus.

Yet here we are with vague calls for redistribution that echo every failed leftist experiment: envy dressed as justice, zero-sum thinking that shrinks the pie instead of growing it. Extreme poverty hasn't been 'solved' by moral exhortations from pulpits or politicians, it's been crushed by free markets, property rights, innovation, and trade. Since 1990, capitalism lifted over a billion people out of destitution worldwide. Billions more escaped through the very systems you and your predecessor love to call an 'economy that kills' or a 'dictatorship.' Meanwhile, every socialist paradise, from the Soviet Union to Venezuela to Mao's China, delivered mass graves, bread lines, and gulags while the ruling elite lived in actual bubbles of luxury. The irony is blinding. The Vatican sits on billions in art, real estate, gold, and investments, priceless treasures hoarded while lecturing the world on sharing. If 'equitable distribution' is so urgent and 'solvable,' why not lead by example? Sell the Sistine Chapel frescoes, auction the papal jewels, liquidate the papal investments, and wire the proceeds to the poor. Practice what you preach instead of demanding others (especially productive taxpayers and entrepreneurs) fund your vision through coercive state power. Christianity calls for personal charity, voluntary sacrifice, hard work, and subsidiarity, not class warfare, centralized planning, or the state as savior. 'Those who don't work shouldn't eat' (2 Thessalonians 3:10). The preferential option for the poor is real, but it doesn't mean turning the Church into a mouthpiece for failed 20th-century ideologies that have killed more people than any other in history. Focus on saving souls, not engineering outcomes. The road to hell is paved with 'equitable' intentions, and the Vatican has no divine right to pave it for the rest of us.
