@Dara_4democracy @tribelaw He’s already 0-3 in cases before SCOTUS, and if SCOTUS tried to upset decades of precedents that have been affirmed repeatedly, it would destroy the rule of law in the US, and they won’t do that.

She might have wanted to avoid the humiliation of having the Supreme Court decline an effort by Trump’s lawyers to get the Court to overturn the 11th circuit.

And to be clear, the key diagnostic question seems rarely about severity/organ dysfunction and almost always about whether or not infection is present

I think something missing from many conversations about early sepsis care is just how hard it can be to make the diagnosis Criteria only get you so far & the patients for whom unrecognized infection would be most devastating often seem to have the most insidious presentations

@danleisman I think mental status changes are often overlooked as a presenting sign of sepsis. Of course, mental status changes have a differential a mile long and it’s easy to say in retrospect that we should have thought it was sepsis

@danleisman If it was easy we'd have figured it out by now. And we wouldn't be relying on non-specific criteria and treating it using a back-of-the-Betty Crocker-box recipe.
