It's true that Takei refused a remake of Shaman King but it was never stated which studio was supposed to do it. Maruyama had interest to do it but he was in MAPPA at the time.

I won't forgive the author of Shaman King for allegedly turning down Madhouse to remake the manga in favor of the old cast returning which I wouldn't have a problem with, if the pacing and animation wasn't fucking terrible and niggas are forcing themselves to like the remake.
