Forgot to post last week, but I’m honored to have had my work recognized by @va_press_assoc, including first place awards in investigative reporting and general news writing for my coverage of homelessness and forever chemical pollution.

Last update: the person who made the threat is in police custody. The jail and courthouse are cleared.

Sheriff Hill said the situation is under control and originated at the jail. He said there was never a threat to the courthouse building.

Biden visiting Prince William again.

The board just voted unanimously to cut real estate tax rate to 92 cents per $100 in assessed value. Not clear yet on what that will do to residents’ tax bills. The most recently proposed rate—94 cents— would have raised average bills by $132 this year.

Data centers in Prince William County will see a 70% hike in the rate they pay on their computer equipment starting July 1, generating an extra $54 million for the county coffers. Approved in a 7-1 vote with only Supervisor Victor Angry opposed.
