I’m seeing this a lot. I’m sure there were logistical issues which prevented them from flying him private to Baltimore. Time was of the essence. I find it hard to believe Maxx Crosby wasn’t aware.

Ravens saw Hendrickson still available and price probably came down a couple million and they reneged to keep their picks.
They placed a player on layaway, stopped other teams from getting him, allowed teams to make moves because they didn’t get him, then took their layaway down payment back without buying the item.

Teams that were interested in trading for Maxx Crosby, including the Ravens, had conversations with his surgeon, Neal ElAttrache, and the Raiders’ medical staff before making trade offers. The Ravens’ doctors — along with multiple independent ones — reviewed Crosby’s MRI. They were unified in the belief that Crosby’s short-term outlook was positive, but there were concerns about the long-term prognosis of Crosby’s knee, per sources. Baltimore believed the risk was too high given the compensation it was giving up.

My theory:
Ravens backed out because they realized they could get Hendrickson and keep their firsts.
Seems like an incredibly bad-faith move by Eric DeCosta and Co.
If Hendrickson signs with Baltimore, the league needs to have a full-fledged investigation.

@TomPelissero @AroundTheNFL Other GMs around the league think Baltimore used the physical as cover to back out of a deal they got cold feet on. If that’s true it’s a serious integrity issue and the Ravens just made themselves a harder team to do business with across the entire league.
