@iey0beeW How does the state normally provide water? They create a sewage/water system. This system does not involve slave labour - the people who create and maintain the system are paid through public funds. This revenue comes from many sources including individual and corporate taxes.

@Kjell_Anderson It is local municipal governments not feds or province that decide whether to pay and then tax for community water and waste systems. It's a user pay system instead of individual wells or septic systems.

I don't have a well I can drink from and I have to travel to get my drinking water. When can I expect the government to start giving me free drinking water?

First of all, these people were pushed onto these lands and told where to live by the federal government of the day. They did not just pick the location like you or even I did. Furthermore, many communities have not received settlements of any kind as they are still tied up in the courts and live in awfull conditions. Before you go off on a tangent, I'm not aboriginal myself, but my son, who I adopted 30+ years ago, is. His band just got a small settlement this year after many years in the court process with the government using many millions of our tax dollars to fight against. They actually spent more on legal fees than the settlement cost. While we may not have put these people's in the situation they are in our predecessors did! I suggest you educate yourself before going on a tirade of bigotry.

Breaking: A man was seriously injured after getting into a fight with a man armed with a knife on a Toronto subway today. Video recorded by an unknown passenger shows a bleeding man being chased through the train. He pleads for help but people run away. This happened as the train was approaching Eglinton station.
