Or maybe the incentives are very appealing when you have mass media and liberals causing you to doubt yourself. Idlout got millions of funding and projects in her community/territory. Jeneroux got an advisory roll, trip and pay increase. Ma was new to politics, probably poorly vetted by the party (I will fault them for that) and also got a trip to China and who knows what else in dealing with that file. Dentremont (the first) was notably the only one who got screwed… with no coincidences I can find. But he was also bitter because he was appointed speaker and lost the role in the internal vote. Of course, all of which are coincidences not beyond reasonable doubt—because it would be illegal otherwise. Of course, there’s always internal drama. Some people think the party should be more centre, some think the opposite… I don’t think that has much to do with the reality and daily psychopathic headlines etc… those are all intentionally crafted and a liberal strategy to convince more crossers. Ultimately, let’s not forget the facts of the election result (which was the closest it’s been in decades), the youth vote, the smear campaigns, the liberal strategy behind all of this. The frequent polls which are all created, leaked, and pushed for a reason. Politics is a nasty game. That’s not to say there aren’t things that may need some recalibrating. However, Mr. carney was promised a majority by Gerald Butts. And it’s clear they will stop at nothing so he doesn’t have to campaign again—which he hated.

How many CPC floor crossers need to happen before we can start asking self-reflective questions? Another half dozen? 20? Until it's just a Caucus of one? I'm not saying the leader needs to go, but surely we can start admitting that maybe the party isn't utterly blameless?...

Mark Carney is seizing a costly Liberal majority that voters denied him, and doing so through backroom deals. In January, MP Gladu said that floor crossers should face voters in a byelection to give voters the final say. I could not agree more. She should do so. The people in her community voted for our Conservative vision of a Canada that is affordable, safe, and strong at home, not for the costly Liberal government she has now joined. She should honour her word and let voters decide.
