TP Ganon is defined through Zant, as Zant is the primary antagonist. Cant remark on TotK but what i hear of it from friends it seems to have dropped the ball lol.

@CappnRob @mount_lanayru Villains you can understand are a lot more compelling typically than a villain you can't as sometimes they can come off one dimensional unless they are done right. I wouldn't call OoT Ganondorf, TP Ganondorf or even TotK Ganondorf one dimensional, but they could have been more.

he HAS a character and that character is pure, deluded, scheming, selfish, power-hungry evil!!! to make Ganondorf anything but would make him cease to be Ganondorf!!!

@SB2749 as someone who has loved this movie since i was a kid... yeah its not good lol. but it is interesting! its weird and wacky and kind of a microcosm of the early 90s culture scene in weird ways. it fascinates me endlessly. but its absolutely like a 2/5 at best lol

@GameStrikerX2 @mount_lanayru Ganondorf isn't 3 different characters with different directions, he's three different perspectives, pieces of a whole that fit together to realize the whole. He's cunning, clever, brutal, selfish. He's embodied by the idea of Power, his metaphoric animal is a boar for a reason.

@CappnRob @mount_lanayru Holy missed the entire point reward. Ultimately, their goals are the same, the difference is the realization and the writing behind those goals. In Wind Waker, there's character and philosophy, in OoT, TP and TotK, it's all about the Power, Control and Authority over Hyrule.

OoT Ganon has a lot you can read between the lines with how he achieves his goals and what he does after he does so. TP Ganon literally manifests before Zant as a god and carries himself as such.

@deGromiNation48 @_claypot I won't discount how Demise plays into it (as it is a legitimate authorized work) but I do think its important to keep in mind WW Ganon was written with OoT and LttP in mind because Skyward Sword didn't exist yet. hes an extention of those depiction's vices rather than a victim.

@CappnRob @_claypot This is where the sense of “yeah, this guy could be redeemed if he wasn’t cursed by the gods not only of his own installment, but across the entire series” comes from. Demise’s curse prevents him from ever making those choices, but that was forced on him in the first place.

people clown on the idea of a not-completely-evil version of ganondorf but i really think there's potential in it. a zelda game that plays around with demise's curse would be sick. like a reluctant ganondorf that isn't really that bad but is doomed by prophecy

@mount_lanayru So, you've never played Wind Waker? The best iteration of Ganondorf yet widely agreed upon by a majority of the community? The one time we got a Ganondorf that showed ambition other than domination and power, everybody loved it, people love that, people want to see that more.

Reducing Ganon to "racist stereotypes" because hes a badguy from a desert is being ignorant of all the other influences that go into his character in favor of a superficial read.

i hate to be the "Le media literacy" guy, but people saying this is Windwaker Ganondorf need to re-read the script He is irredeemable by necessity in WW. His nostalgia for the past is relatable, its "human", but the whole point of of him being that way is to call it out as bad

@_claypot ganondorf isnt evil because of prophecy making him that way hes evil because he's a greedy dick. the prophecy is self-fulfilling. his karma is out of whack. hes damned to a cycle by his own hand.

@_claypot a ganondorf that is reluctant isn't ganondorf. ganondorf is defined by power, ambition, and ruthlessness. mayhe his motivations can be sympathetic, even admirable, but where he falls apart is that no matter how noble his motives may be, his actions are inexcusable.

The crux of this is that nobody at the company has the balls to say no to Miyamoto. They’re clearly capable of great things, but it’s handicapped by whatever Miyamoto wants. Miyamoto-san has created great things in the past. Now he is massively out of touch with the audience.
