Dey there. During the 2005 World Youth Championship Final against Nigeria, Messi was given 2 undeserved penalties and Argentina ended up winning that match 2-1. Prior to his goals, he had difficulty making an impact on the game as the Nigerian team contained his dribbling. He didn’t do much. I watched that game live and knew something wasn’t right. Nigeria was clearly the better team. FIFA was pushing Messi then as the next Maradona and that was all we heard during that tournament from the commentators. 2 years later in 2007 when Kaka won the Ballon D’or, Messi finished 3rd on the voting list and 2nd on the FIFA world best player of the year above players like Didier Drogba, Steven Gerrard ,Pirlo and Ronaldo who’s only rival that year was Kaka. Messi did nothing that year except his incredible goal that reminded the world of Maradona’s goal against England during the World Cup. The dude only scored 14 La Liga goals and won no significant trophies. He even finished above Ruud Van Nistelrooy who won the La Liga in his first season and was also the Top Scorer. I have followed Messi’s career and despite loving his play style, I cannot fully support him. I hate corruption in all forms.

Además, CR sigue siendo el máximo goleador y el máximo asistente de la competición. - Messi disputó 17 Ligas españolas y ganó 10, además de convertirse en el máximo goleador de la historia del campeonato. Ahora bien, desde que debuta en la 04/05 hasta la 17/18, esas 9 ligas ganadas quedan ensombrecidas por la investigación abierta sobre el Caso Negreira. Eso es así y hay que decirlo. Luego, por edad, no pude ver jugar ni a Di Stéfano, ni a Pelé, ni a Cruyff ni a Maradona. Messi desarrolló prácticamente toda su carrera en el Barcelona. Estuvo presente en algunos de los mayores ridículos del Barcelona en la Champions League: las eliminaciones frente al Atlético de Madrid, Juventus, Roma o Liverpool, además de una de las mayores palizas históricas de las últimas décadas, ese 2-8 contra el Bayern de Múnich. Con todo esto, si los datos muestran que no es el número 1 indiscutible, ¿por qué debería considerarlo el mejor jugador de la historia? Estoy hasta las narices del relato de muchas personas que presenten como una verdad absoluta algo que, en realidad, es una opinión perfectamente debatible.

If Messi fans can convince me that he deserved to finish Top 3 in both the Ballon D’or and FFA World Player of the Year for the 2006-2007 season then I’ll switch to being a Messi fan and no longer support Ronaldo. Also give a solid reason why he finished above Ronaldo for that year for the FIFA player of the year award. I don’t want deflections. I just need answers for that season and not asking about 2010,2019, 2021 & 2023. Just stick to the question. I know you will fail at this and select or try to gaslight but please try your best to give reasons especially above the other candidates like Drogba, Pirlo, Nistelrooy, etc.
