as much as i hate AI "fics" (not really fanfiction if a machine is generating it) the answer is NOT to harass authors, even if you think they are generating their fics. there's no way to prove you're right and if aren't, you're hurting real authors who did nothing wrong.

@Clxckwork same here! i'd never use it in a million years for writing. but my flat affect definitely comes through in my writing, so now i worry about that being mistaken as ai simply because it has a lot of the same writing "quirks" i have lol

this plus, some people just.... make writing faux pas, because they're new. beginners and young writers will have the same purple prose that's often accused of being AI because they're still learning to form good stories and prune unnecessary info (which AI also doesn't do)

except you really can’t, not with absolute certainty. sorry op for using your post😅but aside from the actual chatgpt prompt being kept in, most of the “signs” of AI are normal fic quirks and have been for forever…AI was just literally trained on the writing of fic authors

There was one time I knew a fic was written with AI only because I recognized a prompt from an AI app from back when I got sucked into using those apps 🙃 But other than that you honestly can’t tell if someone used AI or not. I hope no one reads my fics and thinks they’re AI
