"The Young Ones," broadcast between 1982 and 1984, was a seminal British sitcom that introduced anarchic humour to television audiences. The series centred on four disparate university students—Vyvyan, Rick, Neil, and Mike—sharing a dilapidated house while attending the fictional Scumbag College in London. Rik Mayall portrayed Rick, a self-proclaimed anarchist and "people's poet," while Adrian Edmondson took on the role of Vyvyan, a sociopathic punk rocker and medical student. Nigel Planer played Neil, a morose hippie studying Peace Studies, and Christopher Ryan was Mike, the suave and unscrupulous leader of the group. The show was renowned for its surreal and often violent slapstick comedy, interspersed with musical performances from bands like Madness and Motörhead. I think what hurts mom the most is seeing the sad defeated look in the eyes of so many of the pups we rescue. Almost shell-shocked or haunted. Her favorite thing is seeing that change when they know they are safe. The light comes back. 🥹♥️
