Follow up to my previous Megacon @FANEXPOHQ and @UniversalORL post… I didn’t tag Fan Expo in that because I didn’t know who ran Megacon. Universal offered me a $30 gift card for the place I was going to the next night, I declined. My goal wasn’t to get people in trouble for the most part or to get something out of it later. Just to bring attention to the fact that after all that by the time I finally got back in, my friends were all tired and ready to go back to their rooms. I missed out on that time that a couple free drinks wasn’t going to make up for. These are people that I get to see one or two nights a year at meetups. Yeah, I lost my ticket, that is on me. I was not aware that the business card with the barcode on it was the only way back in. I assumed (again, my fault) that the bright red “Megacon Orlando 2026” bracelet was the main pass. That only allows you to stay in the park, not reentry. I should have checked and been more cautious. At the same time, that info may want to be relayed, I wasn’t the only one that had this happen. I was just the only one that I know of who is not afraid of being an ass hole. Even I had given up and was on my way back to my hotel when I happened to pass an employee and ask him for help in passing. Universal offered to do something and I give them credit for that. At that point I was already pretty damn salty about the whole thing. I paid $110 for the ticket and rode a single ride and already spent $100+ more in the park on presents for one of my kids. The main issue was Universal and Megacon blaming each other and the customers getting stuck in the middle.

Of all the stuff that I spent WAY too much money on this weekend at Megacon, this poster from @AshleyRiotArt has to be my favorite. I looked at all her stuff and while she has a lot that I would enjoy looking at often, this one was the one that grabbed me. I am a sucker for anything vaporwave/cyberpunk and this one was an instant purchase.

After the shit show of arguing over my tickets with Megacon and @UniversalORL I can officially say, neither one will get my business again. I know I am just one guy who won’t hurt their bottom line but they need to get their shit straight. Universal, my first time in the park and got to say, yall need some nicer people at the gates. And maybe for the next event like this, have them tell people “If you lose this little business card piece of paper, we will refuse to let you in or even listen to you at all!”

@UniversalORL Nothing you can do to resolve my grievance at this point, but maybe have a convo with Megacon so next time others don’t have this issue. Mainly a Megacon issue from my point of view, but your people (aside from the two at the very end) were not remotely helpful.

I bought tickets. I got in with Megacon After hours ticket. I spent $200 inside. Then I found friends. We ended up going out of the park. At some point I lost my little business card ticket thing (I didn’t know it was important, I thought my wristband was) I tried to get back in where all my friends were and was turned away by multiple people. I had a wristband, had Harry Potter wands, had receipts from inside, had my Megacon email, yall took my damn picture earlier in the day. Yall said Megacon had to give me a new card, Megacon said yall won’t let them. I gave up and was on my way back to my hotel and asked one more random employee. I want to say his name was Donnie or something like that. He was the guy holding the Megacon sign on the bridge at like 10pm. He got on his radio and asked for help. He is the only person that even tried to help. I ended up showing a lady my receipts and she let me right in (past the blonde guy at the gate with the attitude) By the time I had gotten in my friends were all pretty much done and we left. The worst part is I know of at least 2 other people who didn’t get in because of this exact issue. I had to argue with 10 people for over an hour to get in. They gave up. I was going to buy my daughter another gift while I was there but was too late at that point. That was my experience
