@PhDtoProf The Research Project Compass can help fill these gaps early. Have your students give it a try, would love to hear about their experience using it. osf.io/preprints/edar…

I've examined 45+ PhD theses. I ask the same 10 questions every time. Most candidates stumble on question 3. Here they are and how to answer each one

Your research paper shouldn't take 6 months to outline. Most junior academics overcomplicate this process. Here's a simple lo-if mind map I've used:

Most PhD supervisors will never tell you this. The real reason PhD students fail is not methodology. It's not data. It's that they never clearly identified a research gap

@olidnejad @ScholarshipfPhd There are 6 archetypes (not just 2). It depends on what the nature of the problem being addressed is.

Most researchers collect data first, then wonder why nobody reads their papers. Start with the story. The data comes after.

@justinskycak This is the most common issue I see in my classes. 'I studied so much, why didn't I do well on the exam?'

Lots of students study way more than necessary while simultaneously learning way less than necessary. They use low-effort, inefficient study techniques like re-reading and highlighting instead of just sucking it up and engaging in efficient retrieval practice and problem-solving. You can go for way longer when you're using a low-effort study method, while simultaneously learning way less.

How your field of research evolved over the years? Find out using these 3 simple steps. 1. Go to answerthis.io/home-2?fpr=fah… 2. Enter the prompt for research trend analysis e.g., 𝐴𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑦𝑧𝑒 𝐶𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑑-19 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑐ℎ 𝑝𝑢𝑏𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑡 4 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 3. @answerthisio will show you the research trends. The trend analysis is presented via graphs and charts 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝: ✦ Number of research publications each year ✦ Top 10 contributing countries to this research ✦ Average citation impact over time ✦ Research publications in sub-fields ✦ Evolution of sub-topics ✦ Quarterly publication patterns 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮: ➟ To understand how the research field evolved ➟ Where it is going forward ➟ How you can best contribute to the field

You're creating content the hard way. Stop grinding out posts one by one. Build systems that do the thinking for you. Templates that actually help. Processes that stack up over time. Smart creators automate the boring parts with AI, so they can focus on what matters.

My first PhD proposal was rejected before the committee finished page one. 3 minutes. That's how long it took them to say no. I'd spent 3 months writing what I thought was brilliant.
