Yesterday, OskarOSullivan was inaugurated as President of Ireland at Dublin Castle. As is tradition, the then President-elect was received by the Tánaiste upon his arrival. To begin the ceremony, a prayer was read by the Archbishop, followed by a speech from the Taoiseach.

LynetteNiCathain was inaugurated as President of Ireland this evening on the grounds of Dublin Castle. The ceremony began with words offered by the Taoiseach honouring the new head of state, followed by a prayer read by a representative of the Holy See.

LynetteNiCathain has been inaugurated as President of Ireland following her momentous election by acclamation. With her ascendency, she is the fifth resident of Áras an Uachtaráin, and the first woman to hold the office.

The President-elect was welcomed to County Monaghan today and given a tour of the area by the local Garda Síochána contingent. After arriving, she met with locals on Glaslough High Street and visited a number of businesses, including Dean's Bistro, perched on the Cor River.

Members of the Government, accompanied by state diplomats, were welcomed to the Republic of Colombia recently for an official visit. Apart from touring the beautiful Rosario Islands, the delegations reaffirmed the historic partnership between Ireland and Colombia.

Last week, the President invited the Taoiseach-in-waiting and his cabinet to Áras an Uachtaráin and presented them with their seals of office. While Dáil Éireann elects the Government, they cannot exercise the authority of their office until they are appointed by the President.
