@CaptBob_Nomadic I like to fly a medium twin, fail an engine at 100ft and see if I can get it back around for a safe landing. Good way to practice engine failures in a way you never could in a real airplane.

I am intrigued about home sims and want to incorporate an entire area of KittyHawk to it. My question to the sim community: Are there any sim programs that randomly create emergency or abnormal situations? Any that ask you limitations and immediate action items while you’re flying? Seems it would be a fun way to learn and stay current on various aircraft.

@bavedikian @preston_holland I work for an airline and owned a small piston airplane. Even at a slow 100kt, it could beat an airliner under 600 miles door to door, especially if the destination didn’t have a commercial airport. I can’t imagine the PJ experience.

Here’s a story about my first trip to Augusta to see the Masters on a private jet. After pursuing a prospective client for over a year, I finally won the business. A few months later, I invited the owner on a trip to the Masters. He accepted. I called him a couple weeks before and said, “Here are the flights I am going to book. The options are limited. Do these work for you?” He chuckled and said, “No, they don’t. We are taking my plane. I’ll text you the exact departure time the morning of.” This trip ruined me forever. I have been on a mission to own a private jet ever since. The freedom and convenience of flying private is unparalleled.

@CaptainErik13 Have you checked NAT DOC 007? It is possible. The blue spruce routes were partially defined by NDBs so they were withdrawn. You should be ok at 280 on the airway BIKF-CYYR.

Anybody out there have any experience with (formerly) Blue Spruce routes? Have to bring a Phenom back from London next week and haven’t done it without CPDLC or HF.
