You really can’t comprehend how lost some Blue Cities and States are. This post was not a spur of the moment kind of thing. Jacob would’ve reviewed this for days (if not weeks) in his staff meetings. Someone would’ve had to raise their hand sheepishly and say “Hey man, that date is on Memorial Day this year. Maybe we could do this the day after or just skip it this year?” And then Jacob and the rest of his Staff would’ve dismissed that pushback with extreme prejudice and said “We’re doing it anyway!” Pitiful. Memorial Day is for remembering the men and women who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Not for remembering drug attics who died because of an overdose.

Today is our nations Memorial Day. Enjoy your day and take a moment to remember the true meaning of this day. A day to pay our respects to all those who have given their lives in our country's defense. God bless these brave heroes and their families.

What’s everyone up to this weekend! I’m chilling in the pool. Tomorrow I’ll go volunteer out at the humane society. Then probably taking photos. Play with my art supplies I’m pretty much by myself on the holidays so I just stay busy.

Astrophotography can be stressful, so here is Cigar Galaxy - Messier 82

In the constellations of Gemini and Auriga, there are 4 prominent star clusters that I love to look at and photograph. The first image shows the location of these 4 star clusters (red circles) - moving from the left to right, M35 (which is in Gemini) and then M37, M36 and M38 (all in Auriga). These star clusters are 3,000 to 4,500 light years away from us. So the light we're seeing left those stars about the time we were learning farming, domesticating animals and making tools/weapons out of bronze.

Vaonis Vespera III. This scope continues to impress me. It initialised quickly again last night and locked onto every target quickly too. The battery life is superb. Sunday 24th May 01:00-04:00 @Vaonis_fr @FLO_UK

This is probably the best look at the shockwaves I’ve seen from the latest Starship flight. Captured from a GoPro I clamped onto a proper camera to record simultaneous video. (I’ll show you the photo the better camera took in the reply)

I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots. It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now.

Cloudy and raining all weekend so no new imaging with the telescope this weekend. But I am continuing to hone my PixInsight skills on old data and here are a couple of my favorite Star Clusters. M37 and M38 are in the constellation Auriga and located about 4,000 light years away. Images are derived from pics I took in my backyard using an 85mm refractor telescope and Canon DSLR.
