We grew up hearing the same rules over and over: “Don’t talk to strangers, don’t ever get in a car with one, and definitely don’t take candy or anything else from them.” But now? We open an app, message a total stranger, climb into their car, and sometimes even take a bottle of water or a mint they offer us. Sure, we double-check the license plate, say their name out loud, and they say ours back… but let’s be real, it still feels a little weird, right? We’re basically doing all the “never do this” stuff our parents drilled into us. I use Uber a lot traveling, but I don’t crawl in until the driver says my name. My app is set up with a personal contact that is notified as soon as the Uber driver puts my pin into his phone, then it notifies my PC that I am route to my destination. My PC can track my movement and is also notified immediately if the driver veers of the route. Once at my destination my PC is automatically sent my arrival time. Do you uber?
