Thank you for the response however looking at this deepl, no one is saying construction should not continue. We want it to continue however, Construction is temporary and it will get done , but the airport's economic impact should be long-term. The key issue is whether local people are preparing themselves with the skills, businesses, and investments needed to tap into the opportunities that will come once Kidepo International Airport is operational.

The Kidepo Question Kidepo Airport will employ 1,620 locals. That's good. But when the runway is done, will the jobs stay? Or will we fly in tourists while Karamoja still queues for food aid? Tourism vs. transformation which one are we really building?

I agree that preparedness is key. The coming of the international airport presents enormous opportunities, but our focus should now be on equipping the people of Karamoja with the skills, knowledge, and business capacity needed to benefit from it. From aviation support services and hospitality to transport, tourism, trade, and construction, there are many sectors that can create jobs and income. The real question is not whether opportunities will come, but whether we are preparing our people to seize them when they do.

@DLotwal It's a good question but also as an African I can equally answer you with a question how best prepared are people of your community in terms of job opportunities and businesses to embrace this mega project I think we can start from there

As a region, we need to start investing in skills development, vocational training, entrepreneurship, hospitality, tourism, logistics, construction, and other sectors that will be directly or indirectly linked to the airport. Local businesses should also begin positioning themselves to provide goods and services that will be required during and after the airport's construction.
