45.6% Tajik, 26.4% Pashtun Another demographic source: According to a population survey conducted in 1396 (2017) with the cooperation of Afghanistan’s Central Statistics Organization (CSO) and international research institutions, Tajiks were recorded at 45.6% of the population, Pashtuns 26.4%, Hazaras 13.1%, Uzbeks 7.2%, Turkmens 2.2%, and others 5.5%. With a total population of 30.6 million, the survey estimated roughly 13.9 million Tajiks and 8.1 million Pashtuns. These data are yet another example exposing the political fabrication and false claims surrounding a so called historical Pashtun majority, showing that this narrative has often been less a demographic fact than a discourse of domination and historical distortion.

@0000yyxt @HeartGuardian_ In the west if they R raised abroad, there is a good chance their parents don't teach them but in Afghanistan itself every Pashtun knows Farsi & Pashto , in fact there R many Pashtuns that know Farsi but dk a word of Pashto.

@0000yyxt Our turkmen classmates almost were bout to cry every time teachers asked em something in calss , cuz speaking dari is so difficult for em , yet it was forced on uzbek , turkmen, Pashtuns & other ethnic groups ! That's why most of afg speak dari , but not sure bou 75% claim

@0000yyxt @HeartGuardian_ Are you retarded? That 75% stat is far too low, it's 99-100%, Farsi is the Lingua Franca of Afghanistan, it is required for Pashtun Chapli kebabs to know Farsi once they R out of the cave.

Here are 11 minorities larger than jews that do not have a homeland: 1. Tamils (~70–80 million) – Primarily in India (Tamil Nadu) and Sri Lanka; no independent Tamil state. 2. This poll really set the cat among the pigeons. As I said before, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is popular among Muslims because it defeated the Americans and Nato and is trying to implement Shari'ah law. And before you ask, the female education issue does not negate the above in the eyes of most Muslims.

likewise, Pakistanis shouldn't do what they accuse Afghan ethnonationalists of, that is, social engineering of ethnic conflicts, in this case, fetishizing an idealized Tajik (or Uzbek, etc) over the "Afghan-Pashtun nemesis". These ethnic games always signal a weak strategy.
