@lukejcr You know it’s a bit of a cop out. If Labour wanted to reduce student re-payments, they’d keep the repayment threshold rising with inflation or beyond. Capping the interest rate on debt that for the most part is likely to never be repaid does very little whilst sounding good.

I’m an MP with a Plan 2 student loan myself, so I know exactly how millions feel about interest rates. Capping them at 6% is a clear signal: Labour is on the side of hardworking graduates and is tackling the cost of living head-on. 💪
