We've got a Tōjō on our hands, only there's far more to suggest the current "Secretary of War" is a right-wing nutjob

💢📰 REPORT | New reporting from NYT reveals how Trump decided to go to war with Iran — after a closed-door Israeli pitch and despite deep internal divisions inside his own team. At a secret Feb. 11 Situation Room meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented a four-part pitch for regime change, including a video montage of potential replacement leaders such as Reza Pahlavi. JD Vance was absent, stuck in Azerbaijan. Appearing alongside Mossad chief David Barnea and military officials, Netanyahu argued: Iran’s ballistic missile program could be destroyed in weeks. The regime would be too weak to close the Strait of Hormuz. Street protests — fomented with Mossad help — could trigger an uprising. Kurdish fighters from Iraq could open a ground front in the northwest. Trump’s response: “Sounds good to me.” Trump’s response: “Sounds good to me.” The next day, U.S. intelligence pushed back sharply. CIA Director John Ratcliffe called the regime-change scenario “farcical,” with Secretary of State Marco Rubio adding: “In other words, it’s bullshit.” Gen. Dan Caine told the president: “This is, in my experience, standard operating procedure for the Israelis. They oversell, and their plans are not always well-developed.” Trump dismissed regime change as “their problem” — but remained focused on targeting Iran’s leadership and military. By Feb. 26, in a final Situation Room meeting, opposition inside the room was clear but fractured. Vice President JD Vance warned the war could spiral and drain U.S. resources, but ultimately said: “You know I think this is a bad idea… but I’ll support you.” Rubio said regime change was unrealistic, but destroying Iran’s missile program was achievable. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was the biggest proponent of war and backed immediate action. Military leadership outlined risks, including depleted munitions and the threat to Hormuz, but all stopped short of opposing the plan. Key officials responsible for managing the fallout, like the Treasury Secretary, and DNI Gabbard were notably absent. Trump went around the table asking advisors their view, then made the call: “I think we need to do it.” The strikes began two days later.

Our oracle @yijingbot has been clear since the start of April. Trump has already agreed for the UK and AUS to lead a coalition to reopen the straits of Hormuz. Everything until then is noise.

Trump now has two options: 1) Withdraw, claim victory, blame allies for not participating, leave hardened Iranian regime in control of SOH, perpetual high oil prices 2) Double down, invade, enter unwinnable war of attrition, political suicide In either case, global recession.

I’m not going to follow any news about U.S.-Iran negotiations—they’re essentially just smokescreens to set up the next round of attacks. The Americans will not back down, because without even realizing it, Trump has placed two things on the table: 1. U.S. military dominance. If the U.S. fails to make Iran submit, the military hegemony it has maintained since the Cold War will collapse. It won’t just be Russia and China—middle powers will no longer hold U.S. military power in awe. Enemies won’t fear it; allies won’t trust it. That’s something the Americans simply cannot accept. 2. The dollar’s global status. If the U.S. fails to make Iran submit, Gulf states will be forced to confront the reality that the U.S. military cannot protect them. That will naturally lead them to question why they should keep investing their oil revenues in the United States. And the dollar’s dominance is ultimately built on the petrodollar system. That too is something the Americans cannot afford to lose. With these two things on the table, even if Trump wanted to back off, he can't.

Odds for a TACO without fighting scenario is at ~ 20%. I assign 80% to the chance he will move ahead with the ground operation. I do think taco is what he likes to do, and I think he perhaps really expressed such an idea. It’s 100% in his character to create a trouble and move away from it as if he has nothing to do with it. BUT, Trump has to be understood through the entourage around him at any given moment. This entourage creates an information environment that would shape the decisions of him, who appears to be so easily manipulated by the immediate people he talks to. And right now, my bet is that he is surrounded by all the military professionals, whose only sane advice, at this particular moment, is to go in. I think it’s more likely he will be swayed into this direction.

Hex 30 War, Line 5 weeping in sorrow; resultant Hex 13 Fellowship, Line 5 meeting of minds. Either UK and AUS have arrogantly supported an invasion, or Trump has had to compromise to get a joint strait reopening. This is about harsh lessons from losses, leading to agreements.
