Vehicle plows into Lao New Year parade crowd—made up of active Lao-American immigrant community. Video shows dramatic rescue of girl trapped underneath the car. Over 15 critically injured—2 were airlift to hospital. Unclear if immigrants were target after recent ICE activity —the driver is suspected of driving under the influence. The local Lao-American community is a tight-knit and multi-generational group — who began to arrive as refugees after the Vietnam War. Incident occurred in New Iberia, Louisiana.
