I'm going to stop before I get myself in trouble... but extreme fear is & always has been my loading zone. Love it. Opportunity.
I have several posts like the one below.. before Oct 2022 lows.
"Learn to love fear and watch your account grow much quicker"
Have a good night!

I like buying extreme fear. I’m a short term swing trader tho, not going long anything yet, but extreme fear is where all the money’s at. Most like to buy euphoria and tops - chase green. Learn to love fear and watch your account grow much quicker..

@MarketPalmer_ You do know that you can buy 10-year treasuries now yielding 4.25% right? Why would you invest in your mortgage at 3%? Pretty illogical.

@MarketPalmer_ The psychology of finances versus the math. Mathwould argue you invest it if you can get a higher rate versus the paydown. Particularly if you have employer matching you're not maxing out (assume you are).

@MarketPalmer_ I would do that when fed start cutting rates.. till then keeping that extra cash for 5% yields in CDs

@MarketPalmer_ @APRbitrage I get that it’s a liability but if you have the cash in a 5% brokerage money market account you’re losing out on 2 to 2 1/2%. At that point it’s not a liability because you could easily take that cash and pay off the debt immediately.

@APRbitrage Totally get where you're coming from with that stance.
But I'll never view a mortgage as an asset.
The $160 isn't much relative to other areas of our financial plan, so it's more of a hedge or way to cover all bases.

@MarketPalmer_ I was wondering what the driver was until I saw your "chipping away at liability" response below.
A 3% mortgage is an asset, not a liability, in this market.
By overpaying, you're effectively increasing your interest rate.
Just food for thought.

You can't make this up:
On July 27th, the Fed said they are no longer forecasting a recession.
Since then, the S&P 500 has lost $1.8 TRILLION in market cap.
Then, on August 4th, JP Morgan said they no longer expect a recession.
Since then, the S&P 500 has lost $1.3 TRILLION in market cap.
Both statements marked the exact high of day for the S&P 500 when released.
Is this a coincidence?
