Why Straight Pult (SP) is currently better than Pult Noir (PN)
The meta has been shaping up in a way that in my opinion favors a more teched out SP version, sure your gardevoir matchup is worse but that's not to say the gardevoir matchup is much better with PN.
SP is a deck that's built upon consistency and having flexibility with the techs you can add, for example we see many SP versions running Toedscreul for the Dengo Matchup, This is something that PN cant afford due to giving up those "flex" spots to the Noir line.
PN is a deck that has a more aggressive playstyle in the sense that Noir allows you to take lines that would not be possible with SP due to Noirs great damage manipulation, however right now the meta is heavily reliant on resource management, decks like Dengo rely heavily on having a fast start to the game and then using items to recover cards later on, they have a finite amount of "items" they can use (Dengo has 4 SSP)
With the idea of a "resource war" if PN has a slower start they will never usually be able to outlast these kinds of decks as the further the game progresses and the more prizes your opponent takes, Noir will be more of a liability and the great comeback potential Dragapult has is lost.
SP is a deck that has great potential to be the best resource management deck with the use of Drakloak being able to efficiently draw through the deck without having the drawback of discarding cards, this means we can save resources for later, while having extra space in the deck gives us access to cards like heavier munki lines meaning we can take a great advantage into decks that rely on damage spread like opposing pults, any frosslass deck or decks that will swing into us but not take a KO, like ceruledge in the early - mid stages of the game.
If we take a quick look at the meta decks (ONLINE) we see that
1. PN is currently the most common deck, with the inclusion of psyduck and our heavy munki line this matchup is favored usually we are comfortable with playing from behind and a deck like PN that includes cards like rare candy and the noir line means they have many "dead" cards in their deck during this matchup while our deck is focused on consistency and counter play.
2. Grim is seeing a lot of play and with higher munki counts SP finds itself having a better time against this deck including cards like turo can also increase our win rate into Grim as we can tank a hit, move some of the damage over and then turo up our pult and attack with a fresh one.
3. Dengo is a matchup that changes drastically depending on the version of the deck you are playing, with the 2x munki and fighting pon, we dont actually need dragapult in this matchup as we can set up our pon with double munki and just sit there while moving damage around, with the inclusion of toedscreul you also hinder their ability to recover cards from their discard, so now their solroc ? solrok ? solrock ? idk how to spell it tbh cant be recycled and continuously attack our pon. If using the toed, we can probably safely attack with pult as they wont have enough energy in the deck to KO multiple pults.
Lemme know if you guys like these kinda posts and i'll make more !
