@DistanceCovered @RyanCarruthers Fair point, BUT (just playing devil's advocate) is that offset by having another big CB in this set-piece heavy/physical (urgh) PL?
As a side we're not the biggest as it is.
English

@DistanceCovered I heard you mention you don't want to go to a back 3, why?
Under Xabis system at Bayern it looks perfect for us.
English

@dervnewbold He actually used his laces that time as well.
English

@DistanceCovered as Witz hit that all i could think of was your quote ‘He shoots like his sisters in goal’ 😂
English

@dervnewbold Well there could be an argument to wait until after the WC if you prefer Nagelsmann. So much depends on who Liverpool fancy as a potential successor.
English

@DistanceCovered Hi josh. With the World Cup and managers having less prep time with returning players pre season, is there a big call to get a new manager in sooner than summer? Understand if you don’t reply with the pile on you get for just talking sense and being rational.
English

@DistanceCovered that deep dive you did was great mate. Good to see you trying to take the emotion out of a decision that could set us back a few years. But sadly I agree, I don’t think we can risk starting the season with Slot because the head loss could happen quickly
English

@DistanceCovered @MarkCarey93 The purpose of the manager is to be fired? You actually believe this? The purpose.
English

I think this is an excellent piece from Jonathan Liew, and it eloquently describes what I have been pondering for the past few weeks.

Incredible bars, anyone who takes this as a defence of Slot’s job so far this season has completely missed the point. This is a beautiful description of the Great Man fallacy!
Josh Williams@DistanceCovered
@MarkCarey93 So good.
English

@DistanceCovered @A_GymGuy Would you not say it's always been that way? More so than ever with every club having sporting directors but when things go bad the manager would always go first as you can't sell the entire squad and obviously owners don't leave until the decide
English

This is so stupid. So why did we just press the reset button with Rodgers and get Klopp? We should have stuck it out. I would say Rodgers probably got more shafted on players he didn’t even want like Balo for example
Josh Williams@DistanceCovered
@MarkCarey93 So good.
English

@Annie_LFC Where’s the disagreement? Because that’s what I think too.
English

@DistanceCovered @MarkCarey93 What a incredible take. Completely disagree, this totally disempowers and infantilises managers, as though they have no influence over what happens on the pitch
English

@tellingsen Exactly. In the modern era with so many departments and sporting directors, it’s harder to tell than it once was. Put the gun down lad.
English

@DistanceCovered It’s a dumb point. When is a manager accountable then?
English

@DistanceCovered @MarkCarey93 It’s not good at all, it’s generic wabble. Could say this about any manager that struggles.
English

@DistanceCovered @MarkCarey93 Just watched the deep dive you did on Slot / this season & agree with pretty much everything you said. Top work 👍🏼

@SimonBrundish @DistanceCovered here’s another screengrab in case you’re interested. it was a season preview published in August. reading articles in full is probably a better approach though

English

@alexsawyer__ But I’m not talking about what he walked into? I’m talking about this season. And you don’t have to agree. It’s just an opinion.
English

@DistanceCovered I just don’t agree at all that he’s been dealt a terrible hand, can’t think of many managers that have walked into a better situation over the last 5-10 years
English

@alexsawyer__ He benefited from their primes WHEN HE WAS STRUGGLING. Are you deliberately trying to misunderstand me here or what?
English

@DistanceCovered That’s a whole lot more than one sentence and ain’t any better. Saying Klopp benefited from the players primes as if he inherited the team as opposed to building it up from the mess he took over from hardly helps your point either…

English

@alexsawyer__ The piece is 500 words long and my concluding line is that I’d probably let him go. But sound. Screenshot one sentence to make me look like a dickhead.
English

@DistanceCovered @SimonBrundish To be fair mate the idea he’s been dealt a bad hand is a shocker. Not many managers get the chance to come into a club that’s in such great shape, not sure what more he could have asked for
