Well done Michelle, but not just to you but everyone on wards 5x and 5y who deliver such excellent care. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. The cakes are in the post - hopefully won't go off!

@basl_events Looking forward to BASL 2019 in Glasgow. Any recommendations for exceptional speakers following the @AASLDtweets Liver meeting 2018?

Really important message. We have a strange relationship with alcohol, but it has a huge potential to damage the lives of heavy drinkers and those around them. Lets get the message out!
Alcohol Change UK@AlcoholChangeUK

It’s day 1 of Alcohol Awareness Week! Communities across the country are organising events to reduce the harm caused by alcohol. Retweet if you’re taking part! #AlcoholAwarenessWeek #AlcoholChange alcoholchange.org.uk/alcohol-awaren…

#RemembranceDay2018Moving ceremonies in Lymm, Cheshire today. It's a small village and I couldn't believe how many names were read out of those who'd died in WWI. A whole generation lost. Since then what have we learnt?

I don't think it's just radiologists to whom this applies but all doctors and going back to first principles we might paraphrase that each action we do should not "harm" the patient. How often in modern medicine do we attempt to do the wrong thing for the right reasons?
Paul McCoubrie@PMccoubrie

Rule 100 / / It’s all about the patient It isn’t about you, the referrer, the institution or the health system. It never was and never will be. Each and every act of a radiologist should directly benefit the patient. Lose this principle and you lose everything #RulesofRadiology

Completely agree. I remember being told as a student "listen to your patient, they are telling you the diagnosis." Now I seem to spend time either waiting for the computer systems to log-on or ordering investigations. I am in favour of patients having access to results/notes.
Audrey Dillon@audsies

Great piece from @Atul_Gawande as always - newyorker.com/magazine/2018/… Important points: imbalanced computer vs patient time for docs - but key EPR role is for patient and pt access. Hopefully not long for PPM to have patient access?? @CCIOLeedsTHT

HCC and cholangiocarcinoma are two overlooked malignancies. Ways to detect tumours at an earlier stage when disease is curable much needed.
Liver Cancer Connect@LiverCancerConn

#Liver #cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, claiming 788,000 lives each year. Most cases are discovered too late for a cure—but now a study offers hope of early detection, and targets for new treatments. #livercancer ow.ly/d8WQ50jzCG4

@AASLDtweets @JAMAOnc Congratulations to the authors! UK HCC and BASL wanted to get funding in the UK for this question, but were denied any research money. Is a prospective study happening any time soon?

As seen at BASL 2018 in York with Dr Loes Alferink. Coffee is good for the liver. Just resist the temptation for too much cake! That's probably less good.
