I am not trying to make my Catholic friends, who I love, angry with this statement. But this entire episode is starting to explain to me why so many Americans were concerned about a Catholic president for so long.
I have no interest in Rome trying to dictate American policy. And if it continues to loudly make its opinions heard on our foreign policy, I believe they’re going to find a lot of American Protestants feeling a lot less ecumenical than we have been in the more recent past.

Only two presidents ever were Catholic. Only three presidents are descended from Ellis Islanders. All of the founding fathers were deeply influenced by enlightenment and ancient thinkers. The basis of our legal system is not biblical.

Catholics calling Trump the anti-christ could be the end of the retard right. I understand how many of you want online to be irl but it never will be. There’s no great Catholic uprising, Mass attendance has plummeted (23% vs evangelicals in the low 60%). The retard right decided to make this a rome vs America thing when people on the right who vote find catholics odd and foreign and this totally severs them from either party.
