#EEUU pretende imponer su voluntad sobre los derechos de Estados soberanos y lleva 67 años aplicando la fuerza y la agresión contra #Cuba. De su lado está el poderío militar descomunal y las dimensiones de su economía, más una vasta experiencia de agresión y crímenes. Del nuestro está la razón, el Derecho Internacional y el espíritu patriótico de un pueblo. Los cubanos no estamos dispuestos a vender el país ni a ceder ante la amenaza y el chantaje, ni a renunciar a la prerrogativa inalienable con la que construimos nuestro propio destino, en paz con el resto del mundo. A Cuba la vamos a defender. Quien nos conoce sabe que es un compromiso firme, categórico y demostrado.

The #US intends to impose its will on the rights of sovereign States and has resorted to force and aggression against #Cuba for 67 years now. On its side there is its huge military power and the dimensions of its economy, plus a vast experience in aggressions and crimes. On our side there is reason, International Law and the patriotic spirit of an entire people. We Cubans are not ready to sell out our country or give in to threats and blackmail, or renounce to the inalienable prerogative with which we are building our own destiny, in peace with the rest of the world. We will defend Cuba. Those who know us are aware that this is a firm, categorical and demonstrated commitment.

#Cuba no recibe ni ha recibido nunca compensación monetaria o material por los servicios de seguridad que haya prestado a algún país. A diferencia de #EEUU, no tenemos un gobierno que se presta al mercenarismo, el chantaje o la coerción militar contra otros Estados. Como todo país, Cuba tiene absoluto derecho a importar combustible desde aquellos mercados dispuestos a exportarlo y que ejercen su propio derecho a desarrollar sus relaciones comerciales sin la interferencia o la subordinación a las medidas coercitivas unilatetales de EEUU. El derecho y la justicia están de parte de Cuba. EEUU se comporta como un hegemón criminal y descontrolado que amenaza la paz y la seguridad, no solo en Cuba y este hemisferio, sino del mundo entero.

Urge un nuevo orden internacional democrático y equitativo, que garantice la paz, el derecho al desarrollo, la igualdad soberana, la participación y representación de los países en desarrollo en las decisiones de política a nivel global, que respete y promueva el multilateralismo; que contribuya a alcanzar el bien común, la prosperidad y la armonía con la naturaleza, y asegure el ejercicio de todos los #DDHH a todas las personas.

#Cuba does not receive nor has it ever received any monetary or material compensation for the security services rendered to any country. As different from the #US, we do not have a government that lends itself into mercenarism, blackmail or military coercion against other States. Like any other country, Cuba has the absolute right to import fuel from those markets that are willing to export it and exercise their own right to develop their economic relations without the interference of and subordination to the US unilateral coercive measures. Law and justice are on Cuba's side. The US is behaving like a criminal and uncontrolled hegemon that threatens peace and security not only of Cuba and this hemisphere but of the entire world.

First Statement by Venezuelan Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino López: The Bolivarian National Armed Forces inform the world that in the early hours of today, January 3, 2026, the Venezuelan people have been the target of the most criminal military aggression by the U.S. government. Missiles and explosives were launched from U.S. helicopters and aircraft. Civilian areas were hit. We are currently tallying the casualties.

El Ministro de Defensa de la República Bolivariana de #Venezuela en alocución condenó la agresión de #EEUU y los ataques a instalaciones civiles y militares, sin justificación y con objetivo de apoderarse de sus recursos naturales. Declaró que Venezuela apuesta a la defensa popular.

El ataque militar y cobarde de EEUU contra Venezuela no tiene justificación ninguna. No responde a provocación de tipo alguno, ni cuenta con legitimidad. Muestra un desprecio absoluto por las vidas y la seguridad del pueblo venezolano y los pueblos latinoamericanos en general.

*COMMUNIQUE OF THE REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA*   The Bolivarian Republic of #Venezuela rejects, denounces, and condemns before the international community the extremely serious military aggression perpetrated by the current Government of the United States of America against Venezuelan territory and population in the civilian and military areas of the city of Caracas, the capital of the Republic, and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira. This act constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, especially its Articles 1 and 2, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of states, and the prohibition of the use of force. Such aggression threatens international peace and stability, specifically in Latin America and the Caribbean, and puts the lives of millions of people at grave risk.   The aim of this attack is none other than to seize Venezuela's strategic resources, particularly its oil and minerals, in an attempt to forcibly undermine the nation's political independence. They will not succeed. After more than two hundred years of independence, the people and their legitimate government remain steadfast in defending sovereignty and the inalienable right to determine their own destiny. The attempt to impose a colonial war to destroy the republican form of government and force a "regime change," in alliance with the fascist oligarchy, will fail just like all previous attempts.   Since 1811, Venezuela has faced and defeated empires. When in 1902 foreign powers bombed our coasts, President Cipriano Castro proclaimed: "The insolent plant of the foreigner has profaned the sacred soil of the Motherland." Today, with the morale of Bolívar, Miranda, and our liberators, the Venezuelan people rise again to defend their independence against imperial aggression. People in the streets   The Bolivarian Government calls on all social and political forces of the country to activate the mobilization plans and denounce this imperialist attack. The people of Venezuela and their Bolivarian National Armed Forces, in perfect popular-military-police fusion, are deployed to guarantee sovereignty and peace. Simultaneously, the Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy will file the corresponding complaints before the UN Security Council, the Secretary General of that organization, CELAC, and the NAM, demanding the condemnation and accountability of the US Government.   President Nicolás Maduro has ordered all national defense plans to be implemented at the appropriate time and circumstances, in strict compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organic Law on States of Exception, and the Organic Law on National Security.   In this regard, President Nicolás Maduro has signed and ordered the implementation of the Decree declaring a State of Foreign Commotion throughout the national territory, to protect the rights of the population, the full functioning of republican institutions, and to immediately proceed to armed struggle. The entire country must mobilize to defeat this imperialist aggression.   Likewise, he has ordered the immediate deployment of the Command for the Integral Defense of the Nation and the Governing Bodies for Integral Defense in all states and municipalities of the country.   In strict compliance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Venezuela reserves the right to exercise legitimate defense to protect its people, its territory, and its independence. We call on the peoples and governments of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world to mobilize in active solidarity against this imperial aggression.   As Commander-in-Chief Hugo Chávez Frías stated, "in any circumstance of new difficulties, no matter how great they may be, the response of all patriots... is unity, struggle, battle, and victory."   Caracas, January 3, 2026
