Take-home message #1: In GAD the brain appears to be more sensitive to signals from the heart, particularly when the heart races. There are both bottom-up and top-down explanations for this neural sensitivity. Here’s an AI-generated interpretation 🤩 6/9

Kids don't need to grind... Kids don't need to condition until they puke... Kids don't need to be pushed... Kids don't need to be punished with exercise... Kids don't need mental toughness training... Kids don't need 40 times... Kids don't need technique training... Kids don't need player rankings or national championships... Pretty much everything expected of an older athlete, Kids don't need... #LTAD #fun #gymnastics #run #jump #throw #sprint #PE #games 3 months of youth athletic development in 83 seconds! A huge thank you to @NIH_NCCIH for giving me the opportunity to share my work with high-powered scientific community at today’s #interoception meeting. I feel very grateful for the constructive feedback I got, and also for the great talks delivered throughout the day!😊 (1/2)

#ChatGPT reminds me of a phrase that has stuck with me since my first day of respiratory physiology at @iu_kinesiology, a separating feature of humans from other species: "Man The Tool-Maker". However, tools of lore may be more obvious (if more narrow) in their usage.

Excited to present my findings for ⬇️top-down and ⬆️bottom-up streams of 🫀 🫁 interoception, Monday and Tuesday at #OHBM2022 in the beautiful Glasgow! And to discuss, learn, and be curious about the fascinating ways we are mapping the brain, and the brain in the body.

SO JAZZED to host @SouthernMissSKN first ever @BiomechanicsDay event! We partied with Oak Grove High School’s sports medicine class, and taught them the ins and outs of using wearable tech in the field. Already looking forward to next year! #smttt

Excited to present my research, showing how attention towards the inner body may 🧠➡️ converge ⬅️ 🫀 🫁 with bottom-up sensory input at tomorrow's @affectScience preconference on #Interoception.
Sahib Khalsa@KhalsaLab

Looking forward to attending the #Interoception Preconference tomorrow. New findings from the lab will be presented via flash talks by Charles Verdonk (@Ch_Verdonk), Adam Teed (linkedin.com/in/adam-teed-b…), and a poster by Emily Adamic (@EmilyAdamic), all three are scientists to 👀

@JMcoyg I love this... players who learn how to see in sequences and visually identify patterns, rather than just one pass.

We think in Pictures. If we say green grass we don't see the words "green grass" we see an image of green grass. Players are interested in learning the "pictures". It's important that we are using words that illicit a mental image rather than using vague coaching jargon.

@JMcoyg Manipulating the ball... something I learned post-college, playing in Hispanic leagues + coed leagues. And manipulating your body around the ball - fakes, looks, little things to unbalance defenders and buy you those precious extra bits of space and time.

Receiving the ball, and?? 1. Manipulating the ball 2. Hiding the ball 3. Running with the ball W/o 1 of these attributes none of these players would be the players they are. They are special bc they can do it ALL. There is no decision without vision. And no vision without tools.

🗣️ Bielsa explains what makes a player special: "More than their ability to overcome opponents, the virtue that makes them stand out is how they receive the ball."
