Here's my entry for the @OUGradSch #BakeYourResearch competition. A fruitcake to represent the microfossil assemblage in my samples (raisins, sultanas & currants = planktics; nuts = fish teeth; glacé cherries = benthics), decorated to show "lab" conditions during lockdown.

@JohannaMarquar3 @SophiMAlexander Are there any repeat ages or depths? I had the same problem until I removed duplicates. For a large spreadsheet I used IF statements and conditional formatting in excel to find them (but there's probably an easier way!).

@SophiMAlexander Thanks :) No gaps or jumps, will have to play around a bit more I guess!

Does anyone know how to avoid the error message “x must be in increasing order” (it is, I promise😉) in #QAnalySeries for the “target” input? I tried different file formats but it doesn’t work. It only works when I replace the age by sample IDs, but that's not ideal… Any ideas?

Set up the tent last night @GreenManFest where I'm volunteering on the @OU_STEM geology stall (quick tell me some cool rock facts!). First night camping was quiet before the festival starts today. #greenman19

I found something unexpected in my marine sediment sample! This insect(?) is about 250 μm. We assume it jumped into the sample while washing as it doesn’t look marine and 1.5 Ma old to us… but we are intrigued now, does anyone know what this is? #insects #Entomology #biology

So warm in the office today that I had to eat the emergency chocolate I keep in my desk to stop it from melting.

Had a lot of fun (and cake!) taking part in #geobakeoff 2019 as part of #Team209. Really enjoyed seeing how other people tackled the same challenges in different ways.
