Rejecting a paper because the results don't fit nicely into what you would have expected is not how science is supposed to work. Those are the results. We can't change them. The methods were solid. This leads to bias in the scientific message that ends up getting published!

@dm_parker Yes, thank you. I've worked with teens a lot. At least you can talk to them and they are not constantly biting you and pulling your hair. Very helpful though 👍

Nobody told me the "terrible twos" meant a constant onslaught of biting, pulling hair, screaming, pinching, eye gouging, more biting, hitting, shrieking, scratching, and having food/toys/dishes thrown at you. Please tell me this ends. I need to hear this ends...

@gpk320 I've worked with teenagers a lot. Including parental, advocacy, and educational roles. I've never felt physically beat up by them. I know the challenges shift. I find those teenager challenges much easier to deal with than being physically assaulted by a tiny human.

@CapricePhillips So I like to give them flexibility to plan vacation when it makes sense for their schedule, research, hobbies, etc (big ski trip your jam? Great! Take a winter holiday!!)

@CapricePhillips My lab guidelines say I expect students to take 3-4 weeks off each year and they need to inform me ahead of time (at least a month warning is preferable) so we can coordinate research activities accordingly. Summers aren't always the best time for students with summer fieldwork.

Graduate students, how much time do y’all be taking “off” during the Summer? Have y’alls advisor ever gave you like a limit of having like only 1 week “off”.
