This trend about Nigerian ladies putting out their bios is revealing a lot. People are posting biodata like job applications, genotype, blood group, height, country, salary range, passport included. Beyond the jokes, it shows how marriage, relocation dreams, financial stability, faith, and compatibility are becoming bigger conversations among young Nigerians. Standards are okay, just make sure expectations and reality can actually sit at the same table.

This one still gives me mixed feelings till today. It’s a story of betrayal… karma… and recovery. It all started back in secondary school. My childhood friend. We did everything together. Same classes, same dreams, same hustle mindset. Fast forward, we both got into Obafemi Awolowo University. Life was moving well for him. He had a girlfriend he had been with for 2 solid years. Everyone knew her. Beautiful girl. Soft-spoken. “Wife material” as people used to say. By final year, things got serious. They got engaged quietly. Not loud, not flashy… just two young people planning their future. And my guy did his part. He graduated top of his class. Straight into a high-paying job at Procter & Gamble. That was when everything looked set. Money coming in. Future stable. Marriage plans loading. Meanwhile, the girl also got admission into University of Ibadan to study Business Administration. The agreement was simple. “Let her finish school… then we get married.” And my guy kept supporting her. School fees. Rent. Feeding. Transport. Everything. No complaints. No hesitation. Just love and responsibility. Then graduation came. That was when everything changed. He went to propose properly. Ring and all. But the girl looked him in the eye and said she had met someone better. Richer. More “stable.” And then came the real blow. She told him to calculate everything he had spent on her… and her new man would refund it. Just like that. Years of loyalty reduced to a receipt. My friend didn’t even argue much. He left… but that day broke something in him. The humiliation was heavy. So heavy that at some point, he tried to take his own life. If not for vigilant neighbours who intervened on time… nobody knows how that story would have ended. Recovery was not instant. It took him almost 2 years to heal properly. Slowly, he rebuilt himself. New mindset. New focus. New life. Then he met another woman. Calm. Supportive. No drama. They dated. Got married. Today, he has 2 kids and a peaceful home. Life moved on. Or so we thought. Last December, the past came knocking. His ex-girlfriend somehow traced him down. Not to rekindle anything. But to ask for forgiveness. What happened? She married the “better richer guy.” But 6 months into marriage, the man was arrested for drug-related crimes and is currently in jail. Everything collapsed. No money. No stable home. No husband. No children. Just silence. And now she’s reaching back to the man she once discarded. The same man she told to “calculate his expenses.” Now here’s the question that still hangs in the air: If you were in his shoes… after everything… what would you do? Forgive? Ignore? Or remind her that life already spoke for him? Share your thoughts.

How To Break Through To The Next Level: Every stage requires letting go of something. - To leave childhood, let go of dependence. - To leave confusion, let go of validation. - To leave mediocrity, let go of comfort. - To become a leader, let go of selfishness. - To build a legacy, let go of living only for yourself. The question isn't: "How old are you?" The real question is: "What stage of manhood are you living in?" Because age creates older men. But growth creates better men.
