Sincere gratitude is extended to the leadership at Faizan e Makkah Mosque, the medical staff, and all participants. These contributions are essential in fostering long-term health, well-being, and social unity across our city.

A successful data and sample collection session was held at Faizan e Makkah Mosque (BD9 5AB) in this cause. By bringing medical research into the heart of the community, this initiative helps healthcare professionals develop targeted treatments and prevention strategies.

The Genes & Health study continues its vital work in Bradford by a landmark collaboration between @BiBresearch & @BTHFT research investigates genetic factors to understand the high risk of diabetes and heart disease in South Asian communities.

To support learning beyond the mosque, children will complete a home-based encouragement tick sheet, helping embed healthy habits within everyday family life through faith-led learning.4/4

Children are also taking part in light, age-appropriate physical activities inside the masjid, alongside simple learning about healthy eating and Sunnah foods.3/4

At Madina Masjid Keighley, the Active Faith Settings programme is helping children understand that caring for their bodies is an amanah from Allah and an important part of Islamic practice. habits within everyday family life through faith-led learning.1/4

Meeting highlighted the collective efforts to enhance youth resilience in Bradford. With several activities for the remainder of the year, the meeting underscored the commitment of FIC and its partners to fostering a supportive environment for young people in Bradford.

Dr Rosslyn Kerr outlined the program's agendas, while participating organizations shared updates on their initiatives. Notably, Bradford Jubodhol FC and Citizens Science presented their strategies for promoting positive mental health and career support among youth.

Faith in Communities hosted its first quarterly steering group meeting for the ongoing Youth Resilience Program at Karmand Community Center. The meeting brought together grassroots organizations and key stakeholders, to discuss progress, share insights, and shape future plans.

This collaboration between @BiBresearch & @BTHFT aims to improve heart and diabetes treatments by putting the community at the heart of research. We extend heartfelt thanks to participants, community organisations, and dedicated medical staff for their unwavering support.

We are delighted to share that the Genes and Health Programme has recently engaged with Al-Hidaaya Foundation and Markazi Jamia Masjid Keighley, fostering community-driven research. We are working with mosques to collect genetic samples from South Asian communities in Bradford.

A huge thanks to all participants, and the dedicated team for their support and work. Together, we're paving the way for more effective, culturally sensitive healthcare solutions that benefit our community. Let's continue working towards a healthier future for all.

ThisProgramme conducts genetic sampling and recruit participants from local communities, enabling scientists to deepen understanding of genetic factors driving diabetes and heart disease in South Asian populations, who face up to 5-fold higher risk of developing these conditions.
