It's a great honour to receive this year's @ASPO_NL Dissertation Award. Sincere thanks to the award committee and to my supervisors, Ruthie Pliskin and Daan Scheepers. In a 30-min award talk, I discussed how group norms shape intergroup relations socially and physiologically.

Check out our new preprint doi.org/10.31234/osf.i…. Together with Ruthie Pliskin and Daan Scheepers, we found people are challenged when their opinion-based group grows, but threatened when it shrinks. We measured challenge and threat responses using ECG, ICG, and blood pressure.

In our recent study, we found norms stressing intergroup equality reduced prejudice towards migrants. Counter-intuitively, this prejudice-reduction effect was only observed among more conservative individuals. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
