What stood out to me though was the animation. Genuinely amazing stuff, including switching to different art styles throughout that kept it feeling fresh and interesting. You can tell the artists really gave it their all, so the AI comments are insanely insulting.

I understand why critics didn't enjoy it - because without that brand connection it is really quite thin - but at the same time, a lot of the inflammatory remarks, like the "worse than AI" stuff, is even more bizzare now. You saw... that? And got angry???

The film was really enjoyable. Definitely a very loose plot with some structural and creative decisions I didn't quite like, but also clearly trying to improve on the critiques of the original whilst still trying to stay true to the tone and style of Mario's games.

... that was better than the first movie, like easily have people been watching a different film?? this isn't an april fools bit, galaxy is like very clearly an upgrade still INCREDIBLY simple, but they actually TRY with atmosphere and themes and other fundamental story elements
