Honestly, this is a bottom-tier take on Pakistan’s problems. Progress can’t be measured by how okay we are with a genocidal country. We have plenty of real issues to fix, but this isn't one of them. @WSJopinion needs to find someone more insightful than @dhume. This piece is beyond frivolous.

It is not difficult to see—a recurring agenda in motion since the breakup of the Ottoman Empire: the same tactics repeated, the same fault lines exploited, and ultimately the same endgame of fragmentation. In the context of Pakistan, amid coercion and conflict, the Mukti Bahini operated as an armed force, linked to the face of Awami League and backed by India and the USSR—part of a wider Harami panti that culminated in Pakistan’s breakup.

He carried a bold, resolute presence that immediately drew attention. Calm and self-assured, he appeared firmly grounded in his convictions, unshaken by doubt. Every word he spoke was clear and purposeful, with his expression and tone together conveying strong, deliberate conviction.

Wakhan is Pakistan British drew up Afghanistan as a buffer state between themselves and the Russians. It was never supposed to last as long as it has unfortunately. A prime example of this is the Wakhan corridor. It is a narrow strip of land that separated the British from the Russian influence; there is no reason for the Wakhan corridor to exist. It's an abnormality, neither here nor there. Some would say the entire concept of being an Afghan is an abnormality, but that's for a different time. What's Pakistan got to do with it? Pakistan is a dream conceived in the soul of our martyrs that sacrificed their selves to create a country. In practical terms, Pakistan is the only polity in South Asia that has the right to exist. Others are mere leftovers from the British crown. Even the Bengali language was conceived in a British lab, let alone the identity paranoia is merely unjust bickering. India over time will have to be dismembered gracefully or by force to give way to its natural borders. Pakistan is just, Pakistan is the name of purity, but looking to our Western neighbor Afghanistan that has harbored nothing but contempt. Afghanistan has repeatedly created misery for its own people, their suffering has continued for the very existence of Afghanistan is insufferable. Pakistan must question why Afghanistan has to exist, which may seen odd with our policy of peace. But certain decisions have be taken to relief others of their burden. Therefore a small but important question about the Wakhan corridor must be asked. Wakhan Corridor remains territorially baffling, an unnatural abnormality frozen in time. But why should Pakistan take the burden of addressing this? It's just not about us but the entire Central Asian republics that remain heavily reliant on the Russians for their economics, security and prosperity. These countries are not just landlocked, their destinies are locked en route to the oceans. A call to pragmatism is a call to unfreezing of the Wakhan corridor. It is not in Pakistan's interest, but in Pakistan's destiny to accept the responsibility of owning it for the benefit of others. Whether Pakistan likes it or not, we can argue, but Pakistan and the destiny of Central Asia’s republics is intertwined through the Wakhan Corridor. The sooner we accept Wakhan is Pakistan, the sooner factuality of it will get recognized, and sooner will we be able to take the reasonable steps to adjust this abnormality out of Afghanistan.

Taking the Gandhian/Nehruvian mask off. “Constitutional Cinderella” The article is highly thought-provoking and requires careful reading, often more than once to fully understand the writer’s intent. The author argues that their interpretation of “secularism” and “multiculturalism” was politically convenient, as it did not genuinely secure the large Muslim minority (indeed one of the largest Muslim populations in the Islamic world) an effective voice at the centre. Instead, it is suggested that this resulted in their continued status as a permanent cultural minority, effectively a “constitutional Cinderella” position. When this perspective is examined alongside documented historical evidence and the present trajectory of developments, the argument appears to carry considerable weight. Sita Ram Haveli, located between the present-day Food Street and the Lahore Fort/Taxali Gate entrance in Lahore, had fallen into severe disrepair due to years of neglect and abandonment. Dating back to the 1920s, the haveli originally served as the residence of Lala Sita Ram Mehra. In 2023, Raees Faheem Associates undertook the restoration of the haveli, aiming to revive its former grandeur. The project has been divided into three sections: Maghrib, the Central Haveli, and Mashriq. The Central Haveli is envisioned as an art gallery, while the Mashriq wing will function as an extension of the gallery and include accommodations for artist residencies. The Maghrib wing is planned as a logistics area, along with a private rooftop dining space offering panoramic views of the Food Street courtyard, the Badshahi Mosque, and the Lahore Fort.
