Lord Robertson. We must tackle the Welfare Bill to spend more on weapons.

Reinforced concrete is fragile because it is self-defeating: the host material (concrete) is a really heavy sponge, delivering water right to the reinforcing that supposedly makes it strong, but water rusts steel. This bridge endured for less than a decade.

Lord Robertson of Port Ellen KT GCMG PC FRSA FRSE ARSE We are spending too much on Welfare.

Israel’s government released its 2026 global antisemitism report, describing 2025 as a year of “persistent high levels” of incidents worldwide. The document blends verified attacks with online speech, protests, and pro-Palestinian political activity—broadly defining “antisemitism” to include a wide spectrum of criticism of Israel. The report claims 815 antisemitic incidents globally in 2025, including 20 fatal attacks, with the remainder comprising non-violent cases such as threats, harassment, and vandalism, alongside a broader category that includes boycotts, public statements, and online speech or activism. It also counts 4,073 anti-Israel protests and 124 million posts on X as part of the overall picture. A section on “fake news” claims widely reported Gaza stories—like mass starvation warnings or viral images of Israeli attacks—were exaggerated or misleading. It names public figures—from right-wing commentators like Tucker Carlson to climate activist Greta Thunberg—accusing them of being the leading amplifiers of antisemitic content. The U.S., UK, Germany, and France are praised for aligning education policy, policing, and national security tools under one anti-antisemitism strategy.
