I really thought my wedding night would be magical… you know, soft smiles, deep conversations, effortless romance like the kind they show in movies. Reality said, “Sis, calm down first.” The moment we entered the room, all my confidence disappeared. Shyness held me tight like wrapper. I suddenly became a different person. Everything I imagined? Gone. My husband was already in the mood for “let’s begin our forever” and said, “Oya, let’s go and bath.” Bath?? Together?? I nearly shouted, “With who??” I quickly told him, “You go first, I’ll come later.” Next thing, this man came out of the bathroom without clothes, just walking around like it was normal. I almost screamed. I had to remind myself, “Madam, you are married now o!” In my mind I was like, “Kai, this man no get shame at all.” I couldn’t even look at him properly. I’d try to steal glances when he wasn’t looking, just small small… but the moment he turned or caught me, I’d sharply look away like I wasn’t just admiring what I saw. One time he smiled and said, “I caught you… don’t worry, it’s yours now.” Omo, I wanted the ground to just open. To even undress in front of him was war. Full battle. I couldn’t do it. I carried my clothes, my cream, everything, entered the bathroom fully dressed, did my thing, dressed back inside, and stepped out like a well-behaved guest. And sometimes, real is even more beautiful than perfect. Till today, this man still laughs about that night.
