All these years of training and I never had to place a chest tube … until yesterday. Just a reminder that having people that nurture your curiosities as a trainee is KEY.

Residents disproportionately cover holiday shifts, work overtime, lose time with loved ones, and yet get no increased Or overtime pay from hospitals! Is there any other field or profession that does this? Seriously we all owe them a ton of gratitude

@ses1978 @PhysicianDoodle I also recommend using headphones if the patient has an iPhone. That way it does not have to be close to the body.

I don’t usually brag about our residency program, but today I’m gonna make an exception. Like other children’s hospitals, we’re managing a surge in respiratory illness. But unlike most hospitals, we’re gonna pay the residents who work extra overnight/weekend shifts $100/hour.
