We need to be aware of this trajectory of policing progressive movements. Not only do we need to resist and #AbolishCIRG, but the expansion of all police budgets...especially those learning from militarized, highly criticized units that are (supposedly) "under investigation"

CIRG/CRU tactics are no longer contained within this militarized unit. Instead, they are being shared with municipal and other police forces including VPD, Victoria PD, Saanich PD, Oak Bay PD, Nelson PD, CBSA, BC prosecution services, and CN Rail Police. All info from ATIPs

This is not to minimize what anti-genocide/pro-Palestine protesters experienced. Instead, we should be alarmed that VPD tactics are confused with the CIRG/CRU--an RCMP unit that is under investigation for its consistent police overreach and violence

In Vancouver on May 31st, the VPD aggressively and violently arrested and roughed up protesters blocking a rail line in support of Palestinian freedom. Many people said it was the RCMP's CIRG/CRU unit...but it wasn't.
