As one of the few naturalized citizens to serve in Congress, it is difficult to constantly listen to the anti-immigrant rhetoric coming from Republicans. The reality is that immigrants contribute so much to our communities. I'm grateful to everyone who understands that.

This threat is outrageous, dangerous, and unhinged. Trump’s illegal war in Iran has already led to enormous death and destruction, including a school bombing that killed over 100 children. Congress must immediately act to rein him in before more people die.

Today, the Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments on Trump's executive order to eliminate birthright citizenship. The president does not get to decide who is a citizen on a whim — the Constitution does. It's simple: if you’re born in the United States, you’re a citizen.

As an immigrant myself, today's arguments on birthright citizenship are deeply personal to me. The 14th Amendment is clear: the children of immigrants are guaranteed US citizenship. Despite President Trump's wishes, he cannot rewrite the Constitution.
