I'm 61 and jaded and challenge both the people I cover and sometimes even my bosses. But I just read that over the hill is bad if your a journalist and so is being rebellious and willing to challenge authority. Damn, I've been doing this all wrong all these years.

Nexstar’s Chief Executive Officer, Perry Sook on Tegna deal: “This transaction is essential to sustaining strong local journalism in the communities we serve. By bringing these two outstanding companies together, Nexstar will be a stronger, more dynamic enterprise—better positioned to deliver exceptional journalism and local programming with enhanced assets, capabilities, and talent. We are grateful to President Trump, Chairman Carr, and the DOJ for recognizing the dynamic forces shaping the media landscape and enabling this transaction to move forward.”

NY AG Letitia James says pay-TV prices will spike if Nexstar-Tegna deal goes through because they will demand higher carriage fees and those costs ultimately get passed on to consumers.

CA AG Rob Bonta says Trump is "more concerned with protecting greedy corporate interests" than consumers in supporting Nexstar-Tegna. It shows lengths he'll go to "silence news coverage that does anything but fan his ego."

"The deal is illegal," says CA AG Rob Bonta of Nexstar-Tegna $6.2 billion deal. Less local news coverage and less accountability and public awareness will result. "It's a gut punch to a thriving democracy that relies on an informed population."

CA AG Rob Bonta holding presser with NY and IL AGs about their effort to block Nexstar-Tenga $6.2 billion deal which they way would lead to job cuts and less choices in local news. In CA, Nexstar would own half of big four stations in two markets -- San Diego and Sacramento.

@DavidPoland But there is such a big cross-over audience. The Oscars is the Super Bowl for women and the WBC is the WBC for men over 50.

The use of The World Baseball Classic as an excuse for the Oscars ratings is much like saying that a movie didn’t open better than $20m because there was a competing movie that opened to $8m. The market is too big to take this on as a major factor. Who really thinks a third of the baseball viewers would have watched The Oscars if the game wasn’t on?
