I lived in India from 2008-2015. Along with VS Naipaul, Patrick French was a one of a few writers who *actually understood* India and could interpret what I was seeing around me. His Naipaul biography is stunning and 'Liberty or Death' is a masterpiece. Rest In Peace Mr French 🇮🇳
