@CalgaryDave You're not polling at 55%. Hitching yourself to Magastan, anti-vaxxers, bigots, and doxxing 3MM Albertans has alienated your movement. That strategy may work in the sticks, but over half the population is pissed and tired of this circus act.

You heard it here... 50% + 1. Liberals sign on to Albertan Independence. We need 50% + 1 to secede. You thought it was impossible? Well, it just became "we're already polling above 55%" And it's going to go higher as more people find this out.
Peter McCaffrey@peteremcc

Huge news: The Liberal government just confirmed that "clear majority" in the Clarity Act means 50%+1. That's always been the case, of course - if the Liberals had wanted to put 60% in the Clarity Act, they could have done so. But it's good to finally have some "clarity"!

@cgy_guy I appreciate that you're trying to have a civil discussion. Some grievances are valid. Equalization is a scam: It gives no incentive for provinces to balance budgets or develop industries. However, that doesn't justify the victim mentality and Canada bashing rhetoric.

I understand that some people have deep emotional ties to Canada, but logically Alberta has been taken advantage of for decades. Albertans have various justified concerns about how we are treated. If you are going to work for the NO side on independence, at least present a valid plan for resolving these issues. Mostly the NO side has just stuck to calling us names. If you care about Canada, do better for Canada. I don’t feel Canada can be fixed and will be voting for Alberta Independence. Prove me wrong.

This is the LAST time I am having this conversation! 👇 WHAT IS SOCIALISM, WHAT IS COMMUNISM, AND WHY WESTERN EUROPE IS NEITHER. According to the CLASSICAL, I repeat, CLASSICAL Marxist theory - not the rebranding from the new age Westoid liberal arts graduates, nor the Leninist, Trotskyist, Stalinist, Maoist or other interpretations - socialism is the transitional stage that precedes communism. socialism → the proletariat rules, private ownership of production is abolished, but there’s still a state, still classes. Communism → no classes, no state, no private property, no money. Utopia. While it may sound good in theory to some (losers), it’s abysmal in practice. Or at the very least - we are the wrong species for it. It would work well for an ant colony, not humans. We are diverse in our ambitions, desires, goals, etc. You wanna see the legacy of socialism? Spent more time in Eastern Europe, we'll educate you. NEITHER WESTERN EUROPE, NOR THE NORDICS ARE SOCIALIST! They are social democracies: capitalist, free market economies with welfare states, progressive taxation, public healthcare, stronger labor protections, etc. NOT socialist! I don't care about Westerners' personal interpretations of the term socialism - they've never lived a single day in such a system. You don't get to rewrite neither history nor economic theory. Either stick to the facts or don't engage in something you neither understand nor have experienced.

Canada's CSIS director, Dan Rogers now warns that Alberta's planned secession referendum is highly vulnerable to foreign interference and disinformation, especially from Russia. He said divisive votes like this are easy targets for amplification of false info to sow distrust and division. Premier Smith says there's no credible evidence of state interference. What do you guys think? #CSIS #CanadaPolitics #Disinformation

Spoke to a landowner. Told me that a MAGA Energy Ltd. well on their property was still pumping, despite an Alberta Energy Regulator order to shut in all wells by now. Insolvent operators are public safety hazards. Road trip required to see if Edmonton wells ⬇️ are shut in.

In West Hollywood, a simple hallway separated two lives that were never supposed to collide. Chris Salvatore was 31—an actor and singer just starting out. Norma Cook was 89—a sharp, champagne-loving interior decorator who had outlived most of her friends. When Chris moved into the apartment complex in 2013, he noticed the elegant older woman waving from across the hall. One polite knock led to a glass of her favorite bubbly. One glass turned into daily rituals: shared meals, long talks, her cat Hermes purring between them, and laughter that erased every year between them. “We became best friends instantly,” Chris later said. She had lost so many close friends during the AIDS epidemic; he was gay and understood that ache. Age melted away. What grew instead was a chosen family built on kindness, champagne toasts, and the quiet comfort of truly being seen. For nearly four years they lived this beautiful, ordinary rhythm—until leukemia, which Norma had battled quietly, took a devastating turn. Pneumonia hit hard. Hospital stays stretched into months. Doctors delivered the news: she could no longer live alone. No nearby family. No savings for full-time care. A nursing facility seemed like the only door left. Chris refused to let that be her ending. Instead of watching her fade in an unfamiliar place, he stepped up in the most extraordinary way. He launched a heartfelt call for help on social media. Strangers flooded in—thousands of them—donating enough to bring Norma home. But Chris knew money alone wasn’t enough. On a cold January day in 2017, he invited her to move into his apartment. Permanently. He became her full-time caregiver, power of attorney, and safe harbor. No hesitation. No conditions. Just pure, unconditional love. Their new normal was simple and sacred: home-cooked dinners, watching the news together, quiet evenings with Hermes on the couch, and plenty more champagne. Even as her health slipped, Norma’s spirit stayed bright. Doctors had given her mere months, but love stretched those days into something precious. She spent her final Valentine’s Day exactly where she wanted to be—surrounded by the family she had chosen. On February 15, 2017, Norma passed peacefully in Chris’s living room, holding his hand, her last words a soft “I love you.” Chris later shared that Norma taught him what real love looks like: showing up without expectation, staying when it’s hard, and choosing connection over convenience. Their story didn’t end with her passing. He turned their bond into a beautiful children’s book, My Neighbor Norma, so kids everywhere could learn that family isn’t always blood—it’s the people who open their hearts (and their doors). In a world quick to scroll past strangers, Chris and Norma remind us: sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply refuse to let someone face their hardest chapter alone.

@JoshGalambos @gator_gum Why did the nazis kill hundreds of thousands of socialists and communists when they took power, and then another 20 million during the war? If you finished 8th grade history you'd remember their name rebranding was propaganda for votes, and it worked. Josh is also that dumb.
