My 1st grader asked to go to bed early so they could have more time to read before sleep tonight. At 6:30. They are quietly reading in bed and it is 6:30pm. I…I’m just so proud.

This is so sad. I hate seeing authors I admire struggle because of the exploitative systems of publishing. If publishing genre fiction continues to be a hardship for authors, which voices will be left out?

I tried to make trad pub work for so, so long at the expense at my time, energy, and mental health, but there's no place for me and my stories. THE POISONS WE DRINK will be my last trad pub story. I'm geniunely done with this shit. Godspeed to those who are stronger than me.

@LMDavisWrites Yes! I have some included in the main chapters extensive further reading lists where I tried to include every author I knew about from my research and social media accounts. I hope this books ends up being a resource for scholars and fans to find new authors to love!

@doc_chocula If they have no money for any real change, I would have liked a letter reminding me that I was chosen for this program for a reason. Such a letter would have really helped me towards the end of my studies.
