🇮🇱 Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has appointed six members from families of bereaved Israelis as official “inspectors” empowered to oversee the prison conditions of Palestinians sentenced to death and to be present at their executions, the Jerusalem Post reported. People close to Ben Gvir told Israel’s Channel 12 the goal of the appointments is “to worsen the conditions” for Palestinian prisoners, as the cabinet minister also cut the number of professional inspectors to fewer than 20 and replaced them with relatives of slain Israelis. The move is intended to “restore deterrence,” Ben Gvir said; critics say it is an open invitation to cruelty and vengeance.

🚨 Suspected foul play at the ICC - The manipulation of this process by some members of the Bureau is a disgrace. The Judicial Panel found no misconduct. Yet the Bureau pressed on and referred the matter to the ASP. I now suspect it will try to change the rules again - this time to stop the ASP from fairly deciding for itself whether there was misconduct at all. The proper course is clear: the Prosecutor addresses the ASP, then the ASP votes on whether it finds serious misconduct, lesser misconduct, or none. My view? They will depart from the rules once more - as they have at every turn, always to my client’s detriment.
